- Seniors: Honor cords will be sold on Friday, May 9 in the Counselor's Office. Honor cords are $6 and Special Honors Cords are $11.
- Physicals will be given Monday, May 15, for all athletes. They will be given in the Gym starting at 2:00. All paper work must be filled out and signed by a parent before you can get a physical. There will be a $10 donation.
- The Balfour representative will be here May 6 to deliver class rings before school.
- Awards Day for 9th - 11th graders will be held Monday, May 12, 2008.
- You may sign up for Summer Driver Education with Coach Ivy in B106 beginning April 1 thru the end of the school year.
- Attention Students and Club Sponsors: The first Hattiesburg Youth Relay for LIfe will be held on May 9 -10, 2008.
- Anyone who would like to bring in pictures for the slideshow may bring them to Mrs. Brumfield's room, A119. Please put your name on the back so we can return them to you.
- Volunteer packets for students interested in donating community service hours at Forrest General Hospital this summer are now available in the Career Center. Applicants must be between the ages of 14-17.
- OGHS would like to thank our Lamar County School District Board Members for all of their hard work and dedication to our school district. Board members include Chris Ryals, Chris Hudson, Mike Pruitt, Kyle Hill, Steve Lampton, and Rick Norton - School Board Attorney. Thank you for all do!
- Students interested in ACT Tutoring should contact Ms. Peggy Varnado at 601.264.7125 for a consultation. She has been tutoring OGHS students for many years. The fee is $50.00 per hour.
- Dr. Lanny Acosta from Gulfport, MS, teaches an "ACT Short Course." It includes five 3-hour classes over a 5-week period. One section will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hattiesburg. For more information, email him at wishingforpar@aol.com.

- Congratulations to Ashley Johnson who won 2nd Place for her essay "Toto I've got a Feeling we're not in Mississippi Anymore" in the Student Writer's Showcase.
- Congratulations to OGHS Art Students who participated in the Gene Taylor High School Art Show. In the Painting division, Skye Bailey - 1st, Sher Nierenber - 3rd, Dylan Dearman - Honorable Mention, and Jessica Bounds - Honorable Mention. In the Draw division, Trevor Brock - 3rd Place. In the Mixed Media division, Hanah Mantooth - Honorable Mention. In the Photography division, Clay Crawford - 1st Place, Alyssa Whitehead - Honorable Mention.
- Congratulations to the Oak Grove Forensic Team! This past weekend they won their 3rd State Championship in a row. The 2006, 2007, 2008 State Championship Team finished their third undefeated season and also brought home five individual state champions. The winners included: Christian Green, State Champion in Dramatic Interpretation; Laken Taylor-Sells, State Champion in Prose Interpretation; William Wild, State Champion in Television Commentary; and Blakely Owens, who won two State Championships in Original Oratory and Expository Speaking. Three students also placed in the Individual All-Around which names the top six competitors in Mississippi. In 6th Place, Michael Chancellor; In 4th Place, Blakely Owens; and in 2nd Place, William Wild. Congratulations to the Forensic Team!
- Congratuluations to the 2008 OGHS Hall of Fame: Kaylen Addison, Linda Amaya, Garrett Braley, Abby Olivier, Melissa Powell, Katrina Rutledge, Morgan Stein, Alyssa Whitehead, and Clay Crawford - Golden Scepter Award.
- The following students recently placed at the Regional Science and Engineering Fair at USM on March 20, 2008: Serena Williams - 1st Place Behavioral and Social Science, Emily Floyd - 2nd Place Behavioral and Social Science, Amin Ali - 1st Place Engineering, Computers, and Mathematics, Juan Solano - 2nd Place Engineering, Computers, and Mathematics, Betsy Robinson - 1st Place Medicine and Health, Gwen May - Medicine and Health, and Alyssa Whitehead - 1st Place Physics. Also, Amin Ali and Alyssa Whitehead were chosen to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair in Atlanta, GA.
- Congratulations to OGHS Drama! They were recently awarded First Place at the National SETC National Champtionship. They came home with the Best Production Award, Christian Green was awarded Best Actor Award, and Noel Anderson was one of 15 students from across the country that was named to the National All-Star Cast. The cast and crew also won Best Technical and Best Ensemble which means that all 30 students came home with an award. he Festival also created an award for our students. The Festival Congeniality Award was created this year by the officials of the competition to award Oak Grove for their discipline, respect, and attitude toward each other and their competitors.
- OGHS has six National Merit Finalists this year including Kaylen Addison, Amy Beam, Jessica Bounds, Nobie Cannon, Long Nguyen, and Cary Robbins.
- Congratulations to this year's OGHS Star Students and Teachers are Long Nguyen / Ms. Andrea Clark and Kaylen Addison / Ms. Karen Addison. Both students scored an awesome score of 35 on the ACT.
