  • Need help? FAFSA DAY for Seniors/Parents! You will receive information through the mail soon for a great opportunity: FREE one-on-one assistance to complete the federal & state forms for college financial aid. Help will be provided through Education Services Foundation. Appointments for assistance will be made in 30-minute intervals. This opportunity will offered in the OGHS Career Center on Wednesday, February 22 from 9am - 3pm. Please call or come by the Career Center to make your appointment!

  • Southern Miss is searching for outstanding high school senior leaders. They are looking for people who have a sincere interest in becoming an active student leader on USM's campus in the future. The Southern Miss Leadership Institute is exclusively designed to prepare upcoming leaders in organizations. The conference is a one-day event, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 11 2012, at the Trent Lott Center location on the Southern Miss campus. They have secured speakers from both campus and local communities, as well as a national speaker who will present training sessions designed to help future leaders make connections that will have a lasting impact. Registration forms must be completed online at www.usm.edu/residence-life no later than noon on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012. The conference is FREE and open to high school seniors. If you would like to learn more, please contact Dr. Stephanie Messer at stephanie.roy@usm.edu.

  • Unlocking Millsaps is a full-day visit for juniors, seniors and their parents will be Monday, Jan. 23, 2011. Call the Admissions Office for details at 800.352.1050.

  • William Carey University Preview Days are Jan. 20, and Feb. 24. To schedule a visit, contact WCU at 601.318.6474.

  • Scholarship and housing deadlines vary for all colleges; it is your responsibility to check the colleges of your choice and meet their deadlines to be considered. The time is NOW! (If you have questions or concers, see Ms. Stein in the Career Center or your counselor.)

  • VERY IMPORTANT! Seniors may request copies of transcripts, letters of recommendations, and GPAs from the counselors' office. ALL forms requiring a counselor's signature need to be turned in to allow processing time. The processing time for signatures and other forms will be ONE WEEK. For letters of recommendation, please bring a copy of your RESUME and allow TWO WEEKS processing time.  Dur to the large number of seniors, it is VERY important to allow plenty of time near deadlines especially before Christmas holidays!

  • ACT TESTING - Nearly every college/university and community college requires students to have taken the ACT to apply for admission and scholarships.   ACT highly encourages students to register ONLINE at www.actstudent.org. Students receive their admission ticket and have the best choice of test centers by registering online.  (Practice booklets are still available in the Career Center, A117.)
